6. Keep it Simple
The process must be easy for your customer to complete. Most do not want to or know how to get to Google to leave a review. Therefore it does not get done.

7. Email Signature
Sign all your emails with an invite to leave a comment about your business. You can hyperlink this to your “Leave a Comment” button or your “Leave a Review” button as part of your email signature. See the “Settings” button in your email home page to set up your signature.

9. Set-up a Google Account
You do not need a gmail account. When you set-up, free by the way, just place in the box “I prefer my own email”.
Keep in mind that if you have any Google related account you already have a Google account. So, you already have a Google account if you have an account with: YouTube, Blogger, Maps, Chrome and a lot more other Google related accounts.
Did you list your business on Google my business, or, do you have a Google search bar? You guessed it . . . you already have a Google account.
10. Do not Offer an Incentive for a Google Review!
This is not legit when playing with Google. So . . . simple . . . don’t do it as you will more than likely be found out and shut down.

For me, the hardest way to ask for Google Reviews is to pose the question to each and every customer after they make a purchase. This approach is not the preferred path for most of us. Plus your customer is not likely to pause and register their review before they leave. Then the question is, will they take the time to do it latter?

Send an email to every customer.
We find that a lot of people are now reluctant to surrender their email.
But if you have a list and want to do this right you’ll need to send a series of emails.
Most folks are unlikely to respond to your first request. So how many is enough versus how many become annoying. What would you feel comfortable with as the recipient. Start there if this is your preferred strategy.
Educate your customers on How to leave a review.
On this one you can get some help from Google. We think there’s a better way. However, if you have the time, go for it knowing that this approach too can be somewhat time consuming.
You could publish a flyer and leave it for your customers to see and pick up while at your place of business. How effective that might be is questionable. How many will read it let alone do it?

1. 63.6 percent of consumers tend to check for Online Reviews before visiting a business. Searched more than any other site for online reviews is Google.
Google and Facebook are now in 1st and 2nd place when it comes to online
Reviews. There are a number of other sites that concentrate on reviews but are not experiencing the same growth pattern.
2.53 percent expect a response for the review they wrote. Of those who leave a review only 63 percent say they ever received a response. Most people are disappointed when they never hear back.
3.94 percent avoid a business when seeing less than good reviews. 80 percent trust a business with a 4 or more star rating.
4. Reviews are on the increase for Banks and Insurance Agents.
5. Customers tend to not trust a business with less than a 4 star rating. The rating that is trusted most, by 80 percent of consumers, are businesses with a 4 and above star rating.

Seeing that the statistics are reporting that 6 out of 10 consumers are using reviews, what is your response to that question?
I know that if I were a local business, where customers visited my location(s), I would certainly be aggressively active in obtaining solid online reviews.

The Keyword tool we use most often is this Keyword Tool. Last I checked they still had a Free version but the paid edition is outstanding. When I bought it this was a one-time lifetime fee.
Google Adwords, Keyword Planner is also good and it is Free. You do need a Google Adwords account but it to is Free, until you place an Ad but you are not required to do so at this point in time.
There are any number of Keyword tools. However, I find that most do require a monthly fee which i am about up to here with. That’s why I recommended the two above. The first one, if a fee, is one time and good for life. The Google Keyword Planner is not as good as it once was . . . but it is still free last I checked.

There’s a strategy in achieving a good first impression with your Videos that involves 4 parts. There are 4 parts, or pillars if you will, that you must attend to in order to be assured of a good first impression of your Videos.
This “strategy” is set up by YouTube. When we make YouTube happy both our visitors and we are happy. In order to secure a good ranking for your Videos YouTube looks for a number of items. In fact, it may be better said that YouTube requires a number of things be done or included, which we like to refer to as pillars . . . The Four Pillars.
The Four Pillars
Here’s the list. The Four Pillars that need your focused attention to attain a good first impression are:
1. A story-telling Title 2. The Multi-Layered Video Description 3. 4 + 1 Tag(s) Types 4. The Stand-Out Thumbnail
This first impression strategy entails careful focus in each of these Video Four Pillars. First let me give you the short story summary. We have an article on each. Simply click on the subtitle for the article you wish to review. Or, if you prefer, check the list at the bottom of this article.
What is a description? Does it not describe? . . . Absolutely!! . . . In other words it tells a story. Now, this is a unique story. It is a true story about your Video – what it is – what it will deliver – why they should watch it – how it will impact them, your individual visitors.
Your description tells the story about your Video using all of the appropriate keywords and keyword phrases you can pack into the allotted space.
The description is to be so appealing that it drives your audience to open, and to watch your Video.

With these 6 tips to POP Video Thumbnails you can build them yourself, FREE and in a short time.
However, YouTube will generate a Thumbnail for your Video if you do not. BUT, Do not leave that up to them as it seldom, if ever, makes for that first impression you need and want.
The Thumbnail is what your audience will first see when they find your Video.
To make your Video Thumbnails “POP” you can do several things. Here we will share with you a few ideas to keep in mind . . . no . . . To Do!
Plus one great, AND Free, tool that will make your job a whole lot easier. This is the tool we use.
But first what in the world do we mean by “thumbnails” and why are they important? Then we’ll give you 6 Tips to POP your Video Thumbnails showing you how to make your own Thumbnails and How-To make them, YES . . . POP!
The video “Thumbnail” is to the video what a cover or jacket is to a book, but in miniature. If it’s interesting or enticing to a viewer they’ll click on it to see what you are communicating. Therefore, make your video thumbnail appealing, interesting and compelling enough to open and to look inside! Make it POP!

This is important to understand . . . Why Thumbnails?
Earlier we talked about our Title and its importance in making a meaningful first impression. The reality is that often the video’s Thumbnail is the first thing that catches our attention. Therefore it‘s the Thumbnail that makes that all important first impression and the first responder to that all important task . . . responsible for building traffic.
As said a moment ago, DO NOT leave this very important step to YouTube.
Therefore spend some time with this and make it stand out. How? That’s exactly what this article is all about.
Making Your Video Thumbnails Stand Out or POP
Design it carefully. If your creativity does not include the graphic arts this may be something to hire someone in Fiverr to do for you.
But before going there, let’s review a few helpful thoughts.
Whether you do your own Thumbnails or hire it done make sure those responsible abide by these 6 tips to POP them.
The first 3 Tips, and you CAN certainly Do These:
ONE: Use bright vibrant colors to cut through all of the noise out there.
TWO: Make the foreground in high contrast to the background. Along with the above.
In the How-To do all of this “tool” we recommend below look for options to sharpen the image and to “saturate” it. Increase these by about 30%. Since the image will appear rather small in YouTube the sharper your image the better it will be found, seen, opened and watched.
Three:Include close-ups of faces when you can make them fit. Babies and animals can also be compelling. The Canva software can help with this. That’s the tool we use. More about that tool coming up.
In Your Design use some Text
Four: Include some text, but no more than 4 words, only 2 or 3 is even better. Remember this is in miniature so we want it understood and not impossible to read. In YouTube notice the side bar showing a list of related Videos to appear. Those are the Thumbnails – rather small.
Five: Choose those few words to tell the viewer what this video is about. See what you can come up with to tell the story of your Video in 2, 3 or 4 words. Have some fun with this, be creative. Six: In your Video use some of the same keywords and graphics used in your Thumbnail. This will put people at ease. They will relate to what first impressed and enticed them to watch.

Six: Canva is the free tool and it makes your design work much easier. No need to hire this done as with Canva you can complete your own Thumbnails. And you’ll make them POP!
This is a drag and drop software that makes life not only easier but fun – we use it all the time for creating our Thumbnails and other needed images. You’ll be able to ace it in no time. You can get the FREE version to meet most, if not all, of your needs. Available at: www.Canva.com.
The top tool bar in Canva, see the blue background above, allows you to click on the page you are building a post for. These are in the size that medium uses.
Third from the left is the YouTube Thumbnail. When you click on it you are given a large number of choices. Click on one and start building. If you don’t like the one you chose, click on another and it will replace the first one.
You may scroll down and choose any number of options including a blank slate. Its all on a drag and drop system. Use their material or import your own.
The 3 Thumbnails below the above tool bar are a few of the Thumbnails I built with this software for YouTube Videos. These were from free backgrounds they supplied. You can use your own images if you wish. You can play around with the text and end up with the font, size and color you choose. It’s very flexible and easy to use.
A Few Additional Thoughts:
Review Your Thumbnail
Once thought through and designed reduce its size to 120 x 68 pixels. This is the size it will appear in the right sidebar in YouTube. It needs to be clear, in focus and communicate – “OPEN ME!” – “CLICK HERE!”
DO NOT Bait and Switch
We know you would never do this intentionally but it is a good reminder. Keep your video Thumbnail true to the content of your video.
In your video use some of the same keywords and graphics used in your Thumbnail so people easily see and relate to what enticed them to watch.
A few Additional Tips:
Seven: View Videos of the same subject in YouTube Thumbnail size. Contrast your color scheme to theirs – make yours stand out.
Eight: Tags. Look at your competitor’s Videos. Check their tags for those you may have missed and that would fit in your Tags section.
When you open up a Video in YouTube you’ll see the info on that Video. The Tags are listed there – have a gander for good ones you missed.

Tag Your Videos Properly or they Will Not be found
Chapter 4 – Tip #3 of15 Traffic Building Video Tips and Tricks
Tags are essential as they are used by your potential viewers to find you. PLUS, YouTube uses them in their algorithm to rank your video.
If you do not tag your videos properly they will not be found. Tags are related to your Keyword. They are not that different from keywords themselves. A Keyword is your focal point of your article or video whereas your Tags are related to your keyword, they are part of the same family.
Video Tags come in 4 basic categories, plus one not so basic but helpful tag. The four basic tags are as follows:
And then there is the “not so basic” tag. See below for number 5.
1. Specific Tags
A Specific Tag is a word related to the Keyword(s) your prospective viewers would search for to find your content. Specific: meaning a single word.
For example; if you are writing about your business your best tags are related to your business keywords. A Dentist who wants to acquire new patients might offer a discount on cleaning teeth. Their tags would be focused around that concept, or their practice and teeth cleaning.
What is the focus of your business, your products and service? What are you offering to your prospective customer? There are a ton of keywords and words, or tags, related to those keywords.
While a cement contractor deals with cement that contractor solves numerous and varied problems. Think of the potential keywords and tags that could be used. Tags for your business are probably more than you can use.
2. Contextual or Generic Tags
What is the general concept or thought of your video? Your tags will reflect that subject matter. Your tags will relate to that topic. If your topic is about your Dental practice or your accounting business or your Resort; your tags will relate to those general topics or categories of business.
Generic tags speak to the How-to of your business, or to the Blog about different aspects of your business, generally speaking.
A generic tag would fall in the area of a group or a class and not be specific. Teeth cleaning would be specific whereas a Dental practice would be more of a generic tag.
3. Compound Tags
Keywords or Keyword phrases of 2 or more words comprise your compound tags. Most often these are keyword phrases. Since most searches are phrases they make for the best tags. Two or more words that meets your potential visitors needs are like gold when it comes to driving traffic to your Videos.
You may even tag the title of your Video. In fact that is highly recommended. Place your Video Title in your Tag section but do not include those non-counting prepositions. You may if you wish but there is no point and you may need to exclude them to stay under the 500 maximum characters YouTube allows.
4. Common Tags For Every Video
For your YouTube channel you may want to include a common list of tags for each video you produce for your channel. If the general subject matter of your Videos are related so your tags will be related. You will have a group of “common” tags most of which you can use with every Video.
Weed out the ones that do not fit a specific Video. And you may also want to include a few tags specific to each video.
5. The non-Basic Tag is a Misspelled Tag
Yes! The not so often used and “not so basic” tag is the one that uses a commonly misspelled related tag or descriptive word.
Find a tag or two that may be communally misspelled and include them in your list attracting a few more visitors. And to keep the search engines actively engaged in your favor. It works.
For example Business is often misspelled as buisness, and politician is often seen as politican. Google a few of your tags to find how it may be commonly misspelled. If it’s not a common misspelled word there is no value so don’t make them up on your own.
Play with these tags a bit. Have some fun. The tags for a given Video may need some of its own specific tags. And . . . you may need to eliminate a few of the “common tags”. Make the adjustments as you see fit.
The benefits are well worth the time:
– With the above done properly the next Video to come up on the list in the right column may be yours. Think of what may happen when you have 10 or 25 or more videos – YES – many of them could appear in that list in the column to the right for your viewers to see and also watch.
– YouTube will also take notice and reward you with better ranking positions when prospective viewers search for and watch your content.
– Your traffic will continue to grow as you add proper Tags to your videos.
– Whenever possible link your Videos. At the end of your “Description” add under a heading such as Related Videos For your Viewing. List their addresses for your visitors to copy and paste.
– Tags used properly, and other tips implemented will all add authority to your channel which means YouTube will treat your Videos more favorably. So put some thought into this as your tags are an important member of The Power Quad for more authority and More Video Traffic.
A Few Additional Tips when considering your tags:
– YouTube gives you only 500 characters for Tags so use them wisely.
– Prepositions are counted as part of your 500 characters. However, they are ignored when considering your ranking. Do not include, and, as, or, etc.
Get a list of prepositions and exclude them from your tags. If you need help you can always Google “prepositions” in Google Images for a list.
– YouTube will consider the arrangement of your tags as their order of importance. So place your most important tags first., including your Title, without prepositions.
The best way to do this once was is to type them in a document. Separate them with comas. Once you have the order the way you want them copy and paste into your YouTube “TAGS” area.
Now, below the TAG area there are a number of helps, “sort” being one. After you have put in all of the appropriate Tags you can think of then click on “sort”. Click “sort” to rearrange your Tags in order of importance and save – done.
Also use those other helps such as “suggestions”. I find it strange that many are great from my Video but a few are nowhere close – do not use those ones.
Remember, no more than 500 characters, including spaces and comas.
– Use an assorted mix of TAGS from each of the 5 areas above.
Follow these instructions for finding, listing and including TAGS and you will get more traffic to your Videos and to your website.

Chapter 3 – Tip #2 of15 Traffic Building Video Tips and Tricks
With YouTube being the second largest search engine in the world . . . and with its growth reaching new records every other day, or so it seems, it is a must for your business. Take advantage of all that traffic!
When writing your Video description keep it personal, warm and friendly. Speak to one individual. Rather than saying, “some of you out there . . . “ say, “you may be having this problem . . . “. This is up to you but be aware of the tone you are setting. Most of us like to engage one on one rather than as one in an unknown group.
The 5 Important Guidelines
To write a killer description of your video there are 5 key tips or guidelines we need to include. They are:
1. Keep it to the point and at least 200 words. 2. Your first two sentences must be written skillfully. 3. Include a call to action. 4. Add more related links. 5. Add your contact information
1. Keep it to the Point and at Least 200 – 300 words.
Remember this is a “description”. The “description of your video is to be just that. What is your video about? Get at that quickly and Stay on Point.
One of the first things to do in preparing to create any video, blog or article is to make a couple of lists.
1. The first list are the content ideas you want to cover around your keyword. What is the problem your audience needs solved? Show “you understand”. Talk about their “pain”. Then . . . solve their problem.
2. This second list is two-fold. Focus on one keyword. Short Videos tend to get more views than long ones. However, if you are doing longer Videos you may focus on more than one keyword. Even with a short Video you can use a keyword phrase versus one word.
Part two of this second list includes all of the relevant words, or tags related to your keyword or phrase. When you talk on one Keyword there are a bunch more related words. Use those as your tags. More on “tags” coming up next in tip #3
2. Your first Two Sentences must be written skillfully.
In this “description” you want to include 2 items within the first 2 sentences. They are: 1. Your main Keyword or Keyword phrase. 2. Your URL where you want people to go. Do this in a hyperlink. Herein lies some controversy. See below.
When using your keyword(s), or your long-tail keyword phrase, be sure to make it appear natural. Do not force it to fit. Make it flow as a natural part of the content.
Become an excellent story teller. Your Title begins to tell your story. Your keyword is a story in and of itself. But those first two sentences must be crafted to tell the story of your Video in a way that compels your visitor to open AND to watch your Video.
These are the first, and could be the only, words seen in your description. These sentences are critical to your video being seen and therefore to be favorably ranked.
Why 2 sentences? Short sentences are more easily understood. Only the first 157 characters will be seen initially. And with some search engines it may be only the first 100 characters so make them count. Therefore make them short, clear and with your best description of your video.
These two sentences, 100 characters, need to include your keyword and your Call To Action (CTA) via a hyperlinked work connected to your URL or Blog . . . wherever it is that you want people to go.
Controversy? A CTA here may be too early. It may not be as effective as more intrigue and/or more reasoning to open and watch your Video. To make YouTube happy we want as much watch time as possible before moving on.
I would opt-in on holding the CTA to later time.
The above will not only drive more traffic but this will drive a better ranking of the video as well.
3. Include a Call To Action.
Well, we already spoke of this a bit. This is a good area to spend some testing time. See how well the early CTA proves out. But always end your description with a call to action.
You always want to engage your viewers. You want them to interact with you and with your content. This is how you want to set up your Facebook business page as well. Interaction or engagement is another important key to traffic growth.
4. Add More Related Links
These can add to your CTA opportunities.
All and any Links are fair game as long as they add to visitor satisfaction. Add links to other related videos, blogs and articles. Add them at the end of your video description.
You might even want to add them to the end of your video and let the video run another 5 to 10 seconds for people to see. At least do this with your CTA URL of your website or Blog or FaceBook page.

5. Add Your Contact Information
How do you want viewers to contact you?
Add that info to the end of your video along with your other “Related Resources”. I like to place my contact info before I list the Related Videos and Articles.
